Falmouth University
I began working with Falmouth University towards the end of 2017. They needed a quick turnaround to help bring their ‘Get Real’ campaign to life for their prospectus.
The premise was simple; find stories from current students, alumni and staff who are doing amazing things in industry which can then be featured in the prospectus. So I set off on a mission to track these stories down. And what an experience it was.
From world-leading furniture makers through to internationally-acclaimed illustrators, I met and spoke to some truly inspirational people. The articles I wrote were featured both in the prospectus and on the website, forming the cornerstone of the university’s marketing efforts.
This project went so well that, when it needed replicating for the business prospectus, the university came back to me. It was from here I met the amazing team behind Zennor Glass and the duo at GlasData who look set to take the agricultural industry by storm. Real stories from real people.
However, the highlight of my work with the university to date was writing and editing The FUSE, a 64-page magazine for students looking to study in Falmouth. In it we explored everything that makes Falmouth and Cornwall a great place to live and study. Combined with the amazing design team at the university, the end result is stunning and, I think, a fitting testament to this amazing part of the world.
Most of the work I do is digital and one of the most surprising things about working with the uni was the rush I felt seeing my words in print again (my newspaper days were a long time ago!). Print absolutely still has a role to play both in the way we tell our stories but also in the way we, as readers, consume them. It was a timely, and welcome reminder, for me.
If you’d like a copy of The FUSE to see for yourself please do let me know and I’ll pop one in the post for you.
