Telling Tales | The one with cults & kicks in the balls

Hi folks,

Another week down and lots of talk out there about ‘new normals.’ Honestly no idea what this is going to look like (and I’ve never been a massive fan of normal anyway) but I’m hoping wherever we get to, we don’t lose some of the positives that have come out of lockdown - whether that’s business diversifying (more on that below) or enjoying things we’re lucky enough to have on our doorstep.

Here’s what I’ve been up to this week:

1. Writing…

About joining a cult and the power of communities. (Warning: Contains some CrossFit chat.)

2. Enjoying…

How businesses are diversifying. I received my latest delivery from Astrum Wines this week. These guys were recommended by friends. They usually supply wines to restaurants but, with restaurants being closed, they are now shipping amazing wine at great prices straight to the likes of you and me. And the wines are exceptional!

Continuing with the food and drink theme, I’ve got 3kg worth of ribs arriving today. They were destined for Michelin-starred restaurant The Ledbury. Now they are destined for my belly. They are from Phillip Warren butchers, who supply some of the country's best restaurants and are now selling their restaurant produce to Joe Public. If you love meat, check them out here.

3. Watching…

On to Part 4 of Money Heist (here's Part 1's trailer). Not sure Parts 3 or 4 were entirely needed but they are still brilliant watching even if Bella, Ciao, Ciao, Ciao has been stuck in my head all week.

4. Laughing at…

This brilliant lady who unintentionally brought a big dose of comic relief to proceedings with her explanation of what can and can’t be done with (tennis) balls under new regulations. "Kick their balls, but don't touch them."

5. Listening to...

This cover of Toto’s Africa which has become my lockdown anthem. Couldn’t tell you why, but I love it.

Thanks for the messages last week. Lovely to hear from you guys. Stay well wherever you are and see you next week,

Tommy
