Telling Tales | #07

Happy Friday, dear readers, and welcome to this week’s Telling Tales.

Here’s my inspiration from the week that’s been…

1. Words of wisdom

One of the most rewarding parts of what I do is helping people find their voice and tell their story. Very proud to have supported a really good friend in telling his. Would highly recommend taking 5 minutes out and reading this blog from Stafford over at Jarrang.

2. Masterchef

How good has this season of Masterchef been? (Just watch this reaction to one of last night's dishes) So excited for the final tonight. When creativity and technical excellence are combined, no matter what the field, the results can be incredible. And so the case has been with the food on Masterchef in the last few episodes. Passion, emotion and a healthy dose of humour all to the fore and the stage is set for an incredible finale. (Also, Nawamin might but the funniest contestant they’ve ever had on the show)

3. Pink Wig Riders

Chris Wood is a good friend, a client and a reader of these emails. Chris’ mum, Sally, founded the Pink Wig charity back in 2009. In 2015, she passed away after after only being diagnosed with a recurrence breast cancer two weeks earlier. Now, Chris and two friends are talking the Prudential Ride London, a 100 mile bike ride. You can read Chris’ story and support them if you’d like to here.

4. Mint, raspberry, bourbon

The sun came out (finally!) this week and had me hankering for a cocktail. The trouble was, I didn’t have a lot to choose from, so I made up this bad boy and it was the business!

Put the juice of lemon, a teaspoon of sugar, a small handful of mint and raspberries into a cocktail shaker. Muddle them together, add 50ml bourbon (I used Woodford Reserve), add your ice, shake it like a polaroid picture, strain over crushed ice and top with a spritz of soda.

5. Resisting temptation

There’s a 50% sale on at Finisterre, the new God of War game is out and has incredible reviews (not that I have much time for gaming anymore) and I’m seriously considering upping my storytelling game by investing in a DJI drone and gimbal. I don’t need any of this stuff but it doesn’t stop me wanting it. Any advice would be most welcome :-)

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend.

Tommy

PS - New life goals = be more like Hugh Jackman. Watch this and embrace all the feels! (Thanks to Craig McLeanfor sharing this with me).
