Telling Tales | The one with coffee & swinging

Hi guys,

Let’s take a deep breath shall we? It’s like the Wild West out there at the minute. I found myself really struggling this week for the first time since everything kicked off.

Social media gives everyone a platform. Sometimes this is brilliant. Other times it’s completely overwhelming. The noise level of it all was too much for me this week and I found people’s stupidity and selfishness too much to cope with.

So I decided to bring back Telling Tales. It’s a quiet corner of the world, hopefully full of bits and pieces you can enjoy. It’s me sharing the stuff I like in the hope you might find something you like and your world might become that little bit richer for it.

Here’s what I’m doing that’s making me smile…

1. Watching…

Money Heist. Whoa. Why was I so late to this party? I haven’t binged a series this hard in a long time. It’s Spanish. It’s brilliant. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll be on the edge of your seat. Watch it.

2. Listening to…

Brian Fallon - Local Honey. The third solo album from The Gaslight Anthem’s front man. It’s excellent. Heartbreaking and uplifting all at the same time.

3. Drinking...

A lovely little number called Claude from Roundhill Roastery in Bath (thanks for the tip Big Drewdle). Seriously, if you like coffee check these guys out. They even sent me bunny ears. And the coffee is next level.

4. Swinging with my wife...

Enough of that filth! Not that kind of swinging - we’re social distancing remember? Polly & I are trying to do 10,000 kettlebell swings as quickly as we can and it’s going great so far. I’ve got 2,000 to go and hope to finish them by Sunday. The idea came from Jolly Sailor Crossfit and is inspired by this. It’s a brilliant challenge and worth giving it a shot if you fancy trying something new.

5. Building an online shop…

I managed to build and launch a Shopify site in less than a day for the awesome team at Chiro London who want to offer new payment options to help with social distancing etc. I don't do a lot of this anymore (as most of my time working is taken up by writing content) but this client kept their monthly retainer with me even though they had to close all five of their sites because of the lockdown. It felt very good to be able to pay them back.

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed it and that you have a great weekend.

Same time next week?

Tommy
